DNventory

Make every domain decision clearer

Help center

Straightforward guidance for organizing, valuing, monitoring, and reviewing your DNventory portfolio.

Get started

Create your private workspace

When registration is available, create a workspace with your name, email, preferred timezone, and base currency. Existing members can sign in at app.dnventory.com.

Build inventory

Add domains your way

Add one domain quickly, paste and review up to 50 names, or preview a detailed CSV import. Track registrar, expiration, renewal cost, DNS, parking, purpose, intent, and optional domain age.

Stay organized

Use folders and tags

Create nested folders for projects, strategies, or any structure that fits your portfolio. Tags add another flexible way to filter related owned and watched domains.

Know the numbers

Record costs and working values

Keep acquisition and renewal spending separate from estimates. Add appraisal evidence, approve a low/base/high range, and review the assumptions behind it.

Watch opportunities

Keep acquisition targets on your radar

Save a domain, source URL, thesis, target price, and priority. Add custom reminders and notification rules, then keep its history if you acquire it.

Plan ahead

Review renewals, payments, and locks

Use the review queue and reports to find approaching renewals, installment payments, expiring restrictions, missing information, and values that need attention.

Research

Preserve why a name matters

Write and pin research notes, include source links, and view decisions alongside costs, values, lifecycle changes, and watch observations on one timeline.

Account

Stay signed in securely

Standard-user sign-in keeps you connected for 30 days by default on the current device. Turn it off on shared devices; choosing Sign out or changing your password removes saved access.

Rapid intake

Add one name or review up to 50

Single entry suggests only empty registrar, registration, expiration, and recognized DNS-provider fields. Hover or keyboard-focus the RDAP result to see exactly what was filled. Multiple entry asks only for domain names, then checks valid rows progressively with a staggered queue and one automatic retry before offering manual Retry. Each row provides separate editable public, acquisition, renewal, folder, and tag details before one atomic commit.

Reusable defaults

Start repeated single entries closer to complete

Workspace owners and administrators can set registrar, DNS, parking, strategy, renewal, folder, and tag defaults in Settings. Recent values last for the current login session; Reset to workspace defaults removes them. Multiple review intentionally starts every domain independently because its data may differ.

Renewal history

Calculate ownership cost without inventing cash

Enter a monthly or annual renewal cost and optionally calculate one accrued renewal for each completed acquisition anniversary. For an existing domain, open Costs, choose Add or Edit acquisition basis, preview the result, then apply it. Actual cash, calculated renewals, and total investment basis stay visibly separate; a manual renewal replaces its matching calculated anniversary.

Valuation evidence

Enter only the estimate you have

Choose Point estimate to enter one paired value. Choose Low / base / high range to enter the ordered three-value row. DNventory shows the workspace currency and required or optional state, keeps active fields evenly separated, and stacks them clearly on smaller screens.

Automatic appraisals

Request an explainable market estimate

Open an owned or watched record and choose Automatic appraisal. DNventory requests available licensed market sources, uses RDAP only for factual context, and presents retail and wholesale separately with confidence reasons, provider retrieval times, comparable-sale similarity, and missing-source explanations. A point estimate is the same model base as the default low/base/high range.

Review before approval

Keep generated results separate

An automatic result does not change the portfolio value by itself. Accept the retail or wholesale result as evidence, then optionally approve it as the current working value. Prior runs and superseded automatic evidence remain in history. Batch appraisal supports up to 50 selected records and reports partial failures without fabricating unavailable values.

DNventory Internal Model

Use broad zero-cost market bands

When an administrator activates a current NameBio aggregate snapshot, every USD workspace can generate separate retail and wholesale internal estimates without a runtime provider call. The result explains matched aggregates, sample coverage, structural adjustments, snapshot date, and confidence. Version 1 never claims High confidence.

Interpretation

Treat internal values as decision support

Point and range outputs come from the same stored distribution. Medium ranges remain at least 0.5× to 2× the base; Low ranges remain at least 0.33× to 3× and widen further for unusual names. Results older than 90 days are capped at Low, and snapshots older than 180 days stop producing numbers. Approval is always explicit.

Canonical providers

Choose consistent infrastructure names

Registrar, DNS, and parking fields use the administrator-managed provider directory. If the service you use is missing, choose Other, enter its name, and save normally. Your label remains on the domain while the site administrator reviews it for addition or mapping.

Nested placement

Parents follow subfolders automatically

Selecting a subfolder also selects every parent up to the top level. The Portfolio organizer opens above the domain list, repositions near the selected row, and stays usable even near the bottom of a long portfolio.

In-place organization

Save folders without losing your place

Saving a domain's folder placement updates its labels and folder totals without refreshing Portfolio. Clearing a subfolder also clears unneeded parents, while parents required by another selected branch remain selected. If scripting is unavailable, the same control safely falls back to a normal form save.

Portfolio views

Shape the table around the decision

Use View options to choose and reorder columns, switch between comfortable and compact density, and collapse the folder rail. Save a named view to preserve its filters, folder scope, column layout and density; mark one as the default if you want Portfolio to open there.

Review queue

Act on a signal or defer it deliberately

Open the record, resolve the signal, snooze it until a chosen date, or dismiss it with an optional reason. Select several signals for bulk resolution or dismissal. Snoozed, dismissed and resolved views keep personal decisions available while the underlying condition still exists.

Reports and mobile use

Move quickly on every screen

Reports are grouped into Portfolio, Financial, Operations and Data quality and remember the last report used in the current session. On smaller screens, renewal runway, record tabs and wide data tables scroll inside their own surfaces while the bottom navigation leaves a safe content area.

Tags

Label records across folder boundaries

Open Tags from the Inventory navigation to create, rename, recolor, archive, or restore reusable labels. Assign tags directly on owned records, watch records, domain intake, or the Portfolio organizer. Use bulk Add, Remove, Replace, or Clear for selected Portfolio rows; clicking any tag chip filters the relevant Portfolio or Watchlist view.

Folders versus tags

Use location and labels deliberately

Folders are hierarchical places and can include parent and child structure. Tags are flat labels for qualities or workflows that may span many folders, such as Brandable, Wholesale, Needs research, or Marketplace listed. Archiving a tag removes it from new assignment controls while retaining historical relationships, and restoration makes it available again.

Portfolio export

Download the view you have refined

Choose Export CSV from Portfolio to download every record matching the current search, lifecycle, registrar, folder, and tag filters—not only the visible page. The file includes folder paths, tags, infrastructure, dates, costs, valuation ranges, plans, restrictions, review dates, and notes. Specialized renewal, ledger, payment-plan, and restriction files remain available from Reports.

Watch reasons

Separate auctions from domain changes

Choose Auction, Domain changes, or both when adding a watch record. Filter the Watchlist by reason without duplicating records. Older watch records appear under Needs classification until you choose a reason.

Auction desk

Track the opportunity through its outcome

Record the marketplace, auction URL, optional end time, current price, maximum bid, and optional 24-hour, 1-hour, or 15-minute reminders. When an auction ends, confirm Won, Lost, Extended, or Cancelled. A win can move the domain into owned inventory while preserving its auction and watch history.

Marketplace names

Use the canonical directory or Other

Auction marketplaces use the administrator-managed provider directory. If a marketplace is missing, choose Other and save normally; the label remains usable while an aggregate-only suggestion waits for administrator review.

Email verification

Confirm a new account before sign-in

New self-registered accounts receive a 24-hour verification link. If it expires, request another from the sign-in screen; up to three verification messages may be sent per hour. Invitation acceptance verifies the invited address automatically.

Email preferences

Choose immediate, digest, or off

Open Profile to manage optional portfolio email by category. Urgent reminders and near-term renewals use immediate delivery by default; routine events collect into an 8:00 AM workspace-time digest. When one monitoring pass finds several watch changes, immediate watch email waits for a short quiet period and combines them into one message. Weekly portfolio summaries are enabled by default. Required account-security mail cannot be disabled.

Delivery troubleshooting

In-app notifications remain authoritative

If a message is delayed, review Notifications inside DNventory first and check Status for worker or relay degradation. DNventory sends from [email protected], which is not monitored.

Live search

Find records without breaking your flow

Portfolio and Watchlist results narrow immediately as you type. Portfolio searches domains, visible record details, folders, and tags; Watchlist also searches acquisition thesis, source URL, marketplace, and tags. Press Enter or choose Apply filters for a complete server-side search and a shareable filtered URL.

Watchlist workbench

Scan lifecycle, reason, signal, and opportunity together

Use lifecycle and reason controls before refining by observed state or tag. Desktop rows keep priority, public state, auction or target context, thesis, and actions aligned; smaller screens use labeled cards with the same record and More-action workflows.

Auction timezones

Enter the deadline exactly as the marketplace shows it

Choose the timezone beside the auction end time, such as Pacific Time for Dynadot. DNventory applies daylight-saving rules, stores the deadline in UTC, and displays the saved deadline in your workspace timezone. A Watch URL fills an empty Auction URL, and recognized marketplace URLs can suggest the marketplace and its usual timezone without scraping the listing.

Notification status

Keep the in-app inbox current

Mark individual notifications read, dismiss reviewed items, or mark all unread items read. Dismissed items leave the Inbox but remain available under the Dismissed status filter. These personal states do not erase the shared underlying monitoring event.

Workspace Connections

Authorize Cloudflare without copying credentials

Workspace owners and administrators can open Connections, choose Registrar, DNS, or both, and continue to Cloudflare. Review Cloudflare's consent screen, select the account to share, and return to DNventory to confirm the read-only connection. DNventory stores encrypted renewable OAuth credentials and never receives your Cloudflare password. API-token setup remains under Advanced for accounts that cannot use OAuth.

Reconciliation

Review every meaningful difference

DNventory matches records by normalized domain name. Choose Accept provider value or Keep workspace value for registrar, registration date, expiration, auto-renew, and DNS differences. Import provider-only domains deliberately. If a connected provider stops reporting a domain, DNventory marks it Missing but never deletes, closes, or changes the portfolio record.

Connection troubleshooting

Reconnect without losing portfolio history

Manual records and the last successful snapshot remain available during a provider outage or expired authorization. Use Reconnect with Cloudflare from Connection settings, retry a manual sync, and check Status for Cloudflare or worker degradation. Disconnecting revokes OAuth when possible and always scrubs local credentials. Automatic sync requires the protected connections worker; manual sync does not.

GoDaddy Connections

Bring registrar facts into the same review desk

In GoDaddy's Developer Portal, create a Personal Access Token with only domains.domain:read, copy it once, then open Connections and choose GoDaddy. You may record its expiration date so DNventory can warn before scheduled access ends. The token is encrypted and never displayed again.

GoDaddy evidence

Review facts without surrendering manual control

Synchronization can propose registrar, registration date, expiration, auto-renew, and recognized GoDaddy DNS changes. Transfer lock, privacy, status, and nameservers remain visible as source evidence. Unknown nameservers are not guessed. Replace an expired or revoked PAT from Connection settings, and revoke the old token in GoDaddy.

Provider aliases

Skip differences that only change a label

DNventory compares registrar and DNS evidence through the administrator-managed canonical provider directory. Labels such as GoDaddy DNS, Go Daddy, and GoDaddy resolve to the same provider, so they do not require a reconciliation decision. The original provider wording remains preserved in the source snapshot.

Dynadot Connections

Connect each account to the right workspace

In Dynadot API settings, allowlist 217.196.54.208, generate a production API key and production secret key, and allow up to ten minutes for activation. In DNventory, open Connections, choose Dynadot, enter both values, select Registrar, DNS, or both, and verify. Credentials are encrypted per workspace and are never matched by email address or displayed again.

Dynadot evidence

Review facts without granting write access

DNventory uses signed GET /restful/v2/domains requests only. Synchronization can propose registrar, registration date, expiration, renewal option, and recognized Dynadot DNS changes. Locks, holds, privacy, provider status, for-sale state, Dynadot folder, notes, nameservers, and transfer-lock dates remain source evidence. Dynadot folders do not replace DNventory folders.

Porkbun Connections

Connect a Porkbun account safely

Open Porkbun API Access, create a production API key and secret, allowlist 217.196.54.208, and optionally restrict which domains the key can see. In DNventory, open Connections, choose Porkbun, enter both values, select Registrar, DNS, or both, and verify. Each key pair is encrypted for its workspace and is never matched by email address or displayed again.

Porkbun evidence

Understand restricted and external domains

DNventory uses only GET /domain/listAll and permitted GET /domain/getNs/{domain} requests. A domain marked externally managed is not mislabeled as registered at Porkbun. When per-domain API access is off, the domain remains visible with limited DNS evidence instead of being treated as an error. Account labels remain source context and never replace DNventory folders or tags.

Internal Model 2.0

Use stronger aggregate evidence without false precision

The model classifies each name, combines TLD and keyword periods in robust logarithmic space, shrinks sparse keyword signals toward broader TLD evidence, and keeps wholesale anchored to direct wholesale statistics. It never uses your acquisition cost, approved value, asking price, or earlier appraisal as an input.

Liquidity guidance

Separate value from likely holding time

Each result includes a relative liquidity score, descriptive band, and broad holding-horizon guidance. These are portfolio-ranking signals—not a sale probability or promised timeframe. Confidence remains capped at Medium until the model is calibrated against legally usable individual sales.

Registry Desk navigation

Move by task, not by feature inventory

Overview is under Home; Portfolio, Watchlist, and Reviews are grouped under Portfolio; Research, Appraisals, and Reports are under Intelligence; Tags, Imports, and Connections are under Manage. Profile, workspace settings, and Sign out are available from the account menu. On mobile, More opens the complete secondary navigation sheet.

Keyboard and motion

Use every workflow without a pointer

Menus, tabs, dialogs, disclosures, live search, and sticky actions retain visible focus, Escape dismissal, and focus return. Your reduced-motion preference disables page transitions, entrances, smooth scrolling, and decorative movement without removing feedback or content.

Refined workbenches

Keep the decision area in view

Portfolio and Watchlist place live search and primary filters before the results they refine. On tablets and phones, folder navigation and secondary controls reflow or collapse so domain identity, status, deadlines, tags, and actions remain readable without widening the page. Server-rendered Apply controls remain available if scripting is unavailable.

Quieter interface

Read hierarchy without extra chrome

Registry Desk now reserves stronger depth and movement for menus, dialogs, focus, saves, and other state changes. Static panels use a calmer surface hierarchy, while long domain, provider, folder, and tag labels wrap or scroll inside their own workbench instead of clipping the page.

Portfolio paging

Search the whole portfolio without one endless table

Portfolio shows 25 records by default, with 25, 50, and 100-row choices and accessible previous, next, and page controls. Live search narrows the current page immediately, then refreshes the authoritative server result after a short pause so matches on later pages are included. Filters and page size remain in the URL.

Watchlist workbench

Search, sort, and scan active opportunities

Search watched domains, thesis, URLs, marketplaces, and tags; filter lifecycle, reason, observed state, and tag; then sort by domain, priority, state, last check, target, marketplace, or auction end time. Paginated desktop rows and mobile cards preserve the same record actions and auction context.

Inline appraisal

Value a domain without leaving its record

Open a domain's Valuations tab and start an automatic appraisal in place. Review progress, evidence, retail and wholesale results, confidence, and approval controls on the same domain record instead of navigating to the appraisal workspace.

Connection reconciliation

Resolve provider evidence in batches

Connection cards use recognizable provider marks and clearer health, capability, and schedule details. In Reconciliation, select several proposed differences and apply Use provider or Keep DNventory once; individual decisions and server-rendered fallbacks remain available.

Payment-plan email

Receive reminders at the useful moment

Installments due within 30 days join the daily digest. Payments due within seven days or already overdue are urgent and send immediately under the default Smart preference; the weekly portfolio summary also reports the number due within 30 days. Open Profile to choose Smart, Immediate, Digest, or Off for optional payment-plan mail.

Watchlist folders

Organize opportunities independently

Watchlist folders and subfolders are separate from owned Portfolio folders. Use them for auction venues, acquisition projects, monitoring strategies, or any structure that fits your opportunity desk; moving a watched name never changes an owned-domain placement.

Saved Watchlist views

Return to the scan you need

Save a folder, lifecycle, reason, state, tag, sort, page size, visible columns, and density as a reusable view. Auction end places timed auctions first from soonest to latest, untimed auctions alphabetically next, and non-auction records alphabetically last.

Reliable reconciliation

Apply one decision to selected differences

Select provider differences in a connection and choose Use provider or Keep DNventory. DNventory applies the authorized batch atomically, reports the outcome, and keeps individual decisions available when you need a field-by-field review.

Contained auction editing

Keep the complete editor with its watched record

Open Reasons & auction from a watched-domain row to edit marketplace, deadline, timezone, pricing, reminders, and change monitoring in a full-width section directly beneath that record. The editor no longer competes with or overflows the Actions column.

Appraisal recovery

Use the run reference when a calculation fails

A provider or calculation failure closes the appraisal run and presents a safe reference for retry or support. Transient provider failures receive one bounded retry, interrupted runs are recovered by the worker, and approved values remain unchanged unless you explicitly accept and approve evidence.

Narrow screens

Keep the workbench readable as space changes

DNventory compacts the main navigation before the workspace becomes crowded, moves Portfolio and Watchlist folders above their results on narrower desktops, and reflows filters into clear rows. Tablets use two-column record cards and smaller screens use one column; wide tables remain contained inside their own surface.

Navigation rail

Expand or collapse the workspace navigation

Use the round arrow on the left navigation divider to change the desktop rail width. DNventory remembers the preference in the current browser. The mobile navigation remains a separate drawer, and Watchlist records adapt to the remaining workbench width instead of squeezing columns or actions.

Wide Watchlist desks

Use the full result area

On a wide desktop, the Watchlist table fills the complete result panel and distributes available room across Domain, Watching, Observed, Opportunity, Folders, and Actions. Narrower workbenches switch to labeled cards automatically, so the page does not require document-level horizontal scrolling.

Phone workflows

Scan first and expand only what you need

Portfolio and Watchlist folders open as one visibly indented hierarchy on phones. Portfolio cards show registrar, expiration, investment, and estimate before organization controls. Settings has direct section navigation, while owned-domain records show a compact summary and section picker for every record area.

Compact mobile ledgers

Read the decision-critical facts first

Portfolio and Watchlist phone views place identity, status, expiration or auction deadline, and key financial or monitoring facts in compact rows. Open Organization only when you need folders, tags, or editing controls.

Full-width mobile tasks

Use the complete phone workspace

The sticky Settings navigator jumps directly to each full-width task. Owned-domain records use a full-width section selector, single-column forms, and a full-width At a glance disclosure; only genuinely tabular data scrolls inside its own region.

Mobile domain lists

Read the decision before the details

On phones, every Portfolio and Watchlist record is a separate registry ticket. Portfolio leads with renewal timing and aligned investment values. Watchlist leads with an auction deadline or outcome, classification need, or monitoring state. Empty secondary facts stay out of the scan path; open Folders & tags or More details for organization, extended context, and editing controls.

Watch timing and archive behavior

Keep one deadline and stop closed alerts

Enter an auction deadline in the marketplace timezone. DNventory stores one UTC instant, calculates the remaining time from it, and displays the exact time in your workspace timezone. Watchlist actions return to the current filters and sorting. Archiving keeps history but disables monitoring, cancels reminders and pending watch email, and resolves active watch alerts.

Desktop workbenches

Keep every decision inside the page

Portfolio and Watchlist tables proportionally fit the available desktop results panel. Long domains, providers, folders, tags, and action groups wrap or truncate inside their assigned columns instead of widening the document.

Adaptive desktop columns

Give only visible information the available room

Portfolio and Watchlist distribute each desktop result panel across the columns currently enabled in View options. Hidden columns reserve no space. At constrained desktop widths, the folder navigator moves above the results before domains, status badges, dates, or record actions become cramped.

Confirming consequential actions

Review the change before committing it

Actions such as recording an auction loss open a concise Review change dialog containing the exact consequence plus Cancel and Confirm controls. Escape closes the dialog and returns focus to the action that opened it.

Contact page

Prepare a useful first message

The public Contact page provides fields for identity, topic, organization, and message context, with a reminder never to share passwords or provider credentials. In release 0.39.5 the form is intentionally a presentation-only shell: it does not email, store, or deliver submitted content. The separate Thank you page is ready for a future form integration.

Contact delivery

Send a message without sharing credentials

The Contact form sends the information you enter directly to the approved FormBastion delivery service. Include only the context needed for a reply and never include passwords, API keys, recovery codes, or provider credentials. The separate Thank you page is reserved for a later redirect configuration.

Contact fields

Only the fields you can see are submitted

Release 0.39.7 removes the hidden Contact honeypot. The visible name, email, organization, topic, and message fields continue to submit directly to FormBastion. Include only the context needed for a reply and never include passwords, API keys, recovery codes, or provider credentials.

Enhanced Contact protection

Allow the form a moment to prepare securely

The Contact page uses FormBastion's browser protection to prepare a signed, expiring submission attempt and a randomized abuse-detection field before sending your visible message fields. JavaScript must be enabled. If preparation or delivery fails, your entered values remain available so you can retry; DNventory never asks for provider credentials in this form.
